Best juice out there but serious design flaws :(
I've owned this for 6 weeks and this is the 3rd batch of juice I've made! See photos! Low rating due to design flaws. Some possibly hazardous. 5 star juice quality! The juicer works great and definately makes juice that taste better longer than my Omega slow juicer(I'd say the embeded tourmaline works) Do not get crome. Look at the first pic. That crome just flaked off into $70 worth of juice i just got dont making. I really hope it didn't flake off into my previous 2 batches I've made with this juicer. I'm sure all the things in that coating aren't what the health aware would call safe to eat. Back to my Omega till this crome coating thing gets straitened out. Onto the twin gears which are beautiful works of vortex math! However they should be solid 316l stainles steal. In pictures 2 and 3 you'll see significant wear on the drive and free grear after only 3 uses! I am comparing this to the very small amount of wear my Omega has on its auger from 18 months of use! The last 2 photos are of the inside of the "outlet casting" where the end of the twin gear assembly is mounted. There should be a metal axel support cast into this piece of plastic. The plastic has started to wear/deform on the drive(photo right) axel it deforming to the 4 o'clock direction. The free axel is deforming less and is deforming to the 10 o'clock direction. Even on their upgraded pro model i dont think think they have upgraded the sopport for those gears. But forsure you want to get solid metal gears if you choose to go with a twin gear. The stress on a single auger is no where near the stress in this system. Im not happy with this juicer so far and will be contacting the manufacturer now. Hopefully something works out since im 15days out of Amazon's 30day return policy. If you're going to pay this much I'd get the Greenstar Pro with the all metal gears for$800...which kinda puts you in the price range for an Angel which is all metal. For now I would recommend that you get the Omega or Tribest single auger style juicer. If it werent for the pealing I'd give this 3 or 4 stars. If I had gotten gears that didnt show significant wear after 3 uses I'd give it 5 stars.
