Not for Adult Learners - Even Beginners. Here's Why...
I REALLY wanted to like this keyboard. For the price point, I thought it would be a great starter for my 8 year old son and I, who are both taking beginner lessons. He's brand new to the piano, and I took lessons as a child but am coming back to learn as an adult. For reference, I'm a 40 year old mom who can read music at a basic level, but a novice player. We had a Yamaha keyboard circa late 90s, and I thought this would be an upgrade as that one has limited keys. It isn't. First, the keyboard piano sound is very high pitched, not a more rounder sound found on other, higher end keyboards. Second, the keys are not weighted; meaning that you are not working with the heaviness of a typical piano. It also means you can't play keys loud or softly. Finally, you also cannot use a pedal, if you're trying to learn that aspect. And the weird thing is that with 61 keys, middle C is not in the middle. You have to play to the left side of the keyboard. It feels so odd to me. For a child, these issues are not as big of a deal. My son is starting at square one, so associating music to keys is important. As an adult learner, these problems are more of an issue. I'm trying to learn how to do things like loud/soft keys and using the pedal (even though I am a beginner). If you have a brand new beginner, then this may work. If you have experience with playing on a real piano, have issues with higher pitched (more electronic sounding) keyboards, or are trying to learn to learn soft/loud key playing or pedal use, then this is not the set for you.
