Don't waster your money....
...if the squirrels you are attempting to defeat have an IQ above zero. I hung my new feeder about half full of large song bird feed. The next morning it was empty. Huh? So, I reloaded the feeder with seed and set up a trail game camera (motion activated) to capture the robber digitally. The next morning the feeder was again empty. I replayed the recording and, yep, the culprit was a squirrel. The feeder hangs from a bracket attached to a support column on my porch. The squirrel zips up the column and jumps across to the feeder. The feeder "windows" close with his weight as advertised. The exterior casing of this feeder is not slick glass or a poly materiel. It is wire mesh...perfect for easy foot holds for a squirrel. So, the little varmint figures how the thing works and proceeds up the wire mesh, does an about face and is now upside down with no weight on the perches....and easy access to the open seed trays and enjoys the perfect meal. I'll try to work out a solution, but have little confidence that one will surface without major surgery. Anyway, suggestions would be appreciated. Meanwhile, the feeder is now in my storage shed and utterly useless. A waste of money, to say the least. This company sells several models with this same basic design and the results will be the same unless they replace the wire mesh outside with a materiel that will not allow a squirrel to position himself as described. Good luck. Thanks for listening.
