Buyer Beware
I bought the Casper Wave not through Amazon, but through the company. Almost a year ago I began searching for a comfortable mattress due to back and side pain. I had no idea it would be so difficult with all the choices and review sources, which mostly manipulate reviews to get kickbacks from the company. I began trying mattresses from companies such as Casper that let you try them for 100 days. No matter what brand or type I tried, I woke up with an aching back or hips or had trouble switching positions. I tried the Casper Hybrid, but found it much too hard. Then I started buying toppers, which the mattress companies always suggest. I returned the Casper Hybrid, and ordered the Casper Wave, which really didn't seem that much different to me. This was in winter of 2019 or early 2020. I was getting so tired of trying mattresses that I convinced myself, "Yeah, this will be okay if I get the right topper." I decided to move the Casper Wave to my sumner room on the first floor of my house where it is cooler on summer. Then I ordered yet ANOTHER mattress for the master bedroom where I sleep most of the time. That mattress was a godsend, the most comfortable of all. Consumer Reports marks it the top brand. When June came I began sleeping in the summer room on the Casper Wave and realized that it was NEVER comfortable no matter what topper I used. I know it is my own fault for not giving it a more thorough test, but I really really wanted to like it. Now it is too late to send it back. I absolutely don't think I can sleep on it, which means I just threw out over $1,000. I decided to go to Casper's website to see what other people thought of it. I was astonished it was not even on their website, nor was the Casper Hybrid I sent back. I wondered if so many people complained and returned their Casper Waves (as I should have) that they discontinued it. So I chatted with their customer service. I didn't mention I already had the Casper Wave. I just inquired why it wasn't on their website. The chat guy told me that now you can only get it through Amazon. When I asked why that was, the chat guy said it was a marketing strategy. Seriously? What kind of marketing strategy is it to completely remove a product from your website! My guess is there were too many returns, because it is not a comfortable mattress, so Casper is letting Amazon have a shot at unloading the remainders. I give this review 2 stars instead of 1, because Casper DOES give you a refund on the mattress and as I recall is one of the companies that allows you to donate to a charity. I didn't bother to try to return it because I am way beyond the 100 days. Maybe the Casper rep reading this review will have sympathy and pull some strings for me. I really really wanted to like it.
