11 Months and kaput! Was somewhat skeptical after reading the reviews on this, but decided to go ahead and purchase since we had a similar unit that lasted about 10 years. This morning, put in some food for a quick warm-up (10 seconds), hit start and nothing! Display went out, unit didn't start, dead. Unplugged/and plugged back in, nothing. Checked outlet - OK. Now came the trouble. The unit is still under 1 year warranty, so I went to Amazon, looked up the order details and selected "get product support". That gave me a text box to describe my problem, which I did. Results: A PDF with a link on how to operate the microwave or Contact Panasonic at the link. I clicked the link and was brought to a product community forum which had FAQ's like "what button to press to do ___". I called the automated help line next which just redirected me back to the on-line forum page. I tried to find a service center so clicked that link at the bottom, put in my zip, selected 25 mile radius, and received a "no service available" message. Increased the radius to 300 miles, same result. I tried the on-line chat button, put in my info and hit go - just to open a "no server found" page. Uggggg. I went back to the Amazon support page re-entered the info and after submitting, selected the "did not receive help" option which finally gave me an option for replacement of the unit or receive a refund. I filled additional information and now am waiting to see what they say when they get back to me. Bottom line is that the microwave worked fine for a while, but in my opinion was not designed to last much past the warranty period - if that long. Panasonic seems not to support the unit and is betting that consumers will just give up, throw it away and buy something else. I would have purchased a more expensive microwave but wondered if the guts of the units are the same low quality as found in this less expensive unit only with glitzy add-ons and useless features that boost the price...
