I'm a former firefighter, and have a lot of experience with false (and not so false) alarms. This model is a nightmare for me. I replaced an older kidde set (which was fine) with these, a total of 7 units. Since then, I've had at least one false alarm per month, always at night. This sets off all the alarms in my house since they are linked, and I am colorblind so I can't tell which is the source. I have to take down each one to find the source (which is random) while my daughter is crying and my nerves are frayed. There is a very special place in hell for companies like Kidde who put out this kind of junk, whether by looking only to shareholders and not to their products or by simply exporting manufacturing. This isn't a joke, when your peace of mind is at stake. I am re-wiring to replace with another brand as soon as I can afford it. Kidde has cost me too many sleepless night, terrorized my family, and wasted my hard earned money. I try to make my reviews helpful and a little funny, but this time I am just at might wits end. Hate is too common in our world these days, but I honestly can say that I hate whoever at Kidde is responsible for this product.
