Over fifty pages into this book and I was still uninterested. Pages and pages of backstory before the book gets mildly interesting, but by then I had lost the will to keep plodding through and keep track of the convoluted story and all of its characters. I also don't find it entertaining to read about sexual deviancy or sexual violence towards women, and I found those parts of the book so disturbing it made me wonder about the author. The mystery wasn't all that interesting, and I was extremely disappointed in this book, having just finished a novel that was so intriguing I found it difficult to put down (Shutter Island). I wish I had read the negative reviews before picking up this "bestseller". Then I would have known this was one to miss.
