I am sure because of all the good reviews that this was a fluke, but nevertheless feel compelled to share for safety. I ordered this for my husband's birthday. He read the entire manual while we were on vacation at my parent's house, plugged the charger with battery on it into a good outlet. 15 minutes later my father walked into the bedroom where it was plugged in, and the charger was shooting sparks out of the unit, and smoking black smoke which left black marks up their wall. He immediately unplugged it, but I am sure if we were away when this happened, their house would have burned down. The sparks and smoke was coming from the charging unit, not from the outlet which works fine. Because of all the good reviews I will be exchanging for a new unit, but just wanted to urge everyone to PLEASE keep an eye on charging units when you use them, especially for the first time.
