You have to push a button with a lot of resistance sideways and then depress it and hold it down while pouring. Awkward for my sons and impossible if you have any arthritis or joint issues like I do. Then for a safety warning,, before you use it, Every Time (!!!), you're supposed to disassemble (unscrew) the nozzle from the can, depressing a childproof collar. Really! Thank goodness Amazon Prime allowed me to return it.
