This is some ultra-crappy matcha. Method: 2 sifted Chasen scoops whisked into 4 oz of water Initial: The actual matcha powder, when compared side-by-side to some matcha I bought from O-cha (at less than half the price, I might add ($28 to $12 USD)) is significantly less vibrant. The O-cha matcha is a brilliant emerald green, whereas the KissMe matcha is dulled, and even appears somewhat yellowed. The smell of the matcha, as compared to the one from O-cha, is dull and somewhat "bitter," whereas the O-cha one is sweet and vegetal in scent. Brewing: I took my small sifting screen (literally a tea ball that I cut in half) and passed two scoops from my chashaku through it. I poured my hot water into a small pitcher (because I'm such a tea nerd that I know what 4 and 5 oz of water look like in my pitcher) and from there poured it into my chawan. I then took my chasen and whisked the crap out of the deep green liquid, which frothed up very nicely, for around 45 seconds to a minute. Smell: The Smell of the liquor is bitter, even though I know that bitter's a taste. It simply smells bitter, with some small amounts of vegetal scents thrown into the mix, almost as an afterthought. Taste: The Taste of the liquid is bitter. It gets even worse in the Aftertaste, where not only does the bitterness increase by orders of magnitude, but you also get this chalky taste/mouthfeel which is very unpleasant. Summary: For the price you pay ($28 USD on Amazon), this is a very crappy matcha. From what I can tell, this product is both old and of very low quality as compared to my other matcha. I would never recommend this to anyone, ever. Period. Please buy matcha from a reliable vendor (O-cha, Ippodo, etc...). This is a complete waste of money, especially when you can buy better matcha for 1/2 the price from O-cha or other vendors.
