Perfect for Howard Hughes. Useless for the rest of us.
If you happen to live in a clean room environment that Howard Hughes would envy, this is the toy for you. For the rest of us who live in houses that aren't vigorously scrubbed every time we want to use your BB-8, this toy is fairly useless. After just a few minutes of operation it wobbles around because it's picked up so much lint. The smooth ball attracts lint and dog hair like a magnet. It didn't take long for the little wheels in the head to look like the wheels in a non-optical mouse do after a year of operation. What makes it worse is there doesn't appear to be any way to clean them. The little wheels have slits in them that get dog hairs get wrapped around. I can't see there's any way for the manufacturers to fix in future versions other than making it possible to take apart the head to clean it. Two other points that make this toy not the best buy: 1. When the battery dies, so does your BB-8. There's no way to replace it because the ball is glued together during the manufacturing process. 2. If the app stops working, the BB-8 is rendered worthless. So if the manufacturer decides they don't want to update the app for future versions of IOS, you'll end up with a $150 paper weight.
