My socks are in heaven.
Everyone wants to change their lives for the better, so if you adopt this black or white concept and throw out anything and everything that doesn't bring you joy, you will attain a life changing freeing experience. I was thinking perhaps this book would shed some light on new ideas. Did not. I live with animals and children and grandchildren and others. Their being and "stuff" enriches my life. My time spent with them is more important than this type of " tidying up". I tried rolling my socks and ended up feeling HORRIBLE, 'what a waste of time'. I will never be able to continue doing this, and daily emptying my handbag to only refill it the next morning? A ridiculous waste of time, when I would much rather be out spending time with my friends and family. This seems to be such a tyrannical approach to isolating every little item in its own little box. If I use her philosophy, I keep thinking about how happy so many of my things must be touching so many others, who have so many different and varied uses in life. They must "feel" so enriched! Reading along, I could not help but keep seeing my OCD relative who will get in the middle of a conversation to dry and polish her sink if any one pours a water glass out or disturbs the arrangements in her house. (Needless to say, visits are rare). But, I believe she would love this book, and perhaps there are many people like her that do. I did not. I did not get anything new from this book. I will continue to purge when an area becomes such that it requires my time. Otherwise I am ok with the gray areas that simply do not weigh that heavily on my overall health and happiness. Not for me at all.
