I have purchased WD Passports for many years. It would not surprise me if, all told, I have bought over fifty of them. This summer I had to purchase ten of these WD 3 TB drives for a new data-intensive project. Three of the ten failed with complete loss of data. The three were purchased at different times, from different vendors, and were used by three different team members in three different cities. So we're not dealing with a one-time bad batch. This is an unacceptable failure rate, and as a result I will never buy anything again from WD--all the more so because WD Support was unable to offer any help whatsoever ("We are not a data recovery company." Now they tell me!) Buyer beware! WD's quality control has badly slipped, and they are clueless when you report a problem.
