★★☆☆☆
Poor Messaging
This game has been around for awhile and has much to charm: kids get in sneaky math practice, it is easy to learn, but not boring for parents (I'm looking at you chutes and ladders. Please die in a hellfire.), and was invented by a 6 year old girl (with some help from her parents).
The low star rating is due to the terrible messaging. Most of the queens' waists are toothpick thin. I've never seen women corseted so tightly. It is ridiculous. These ladies make Disney princesses look fat. My other complaint is the lack of agency these poor ladies have. In the game, they are asleep. A king can wake them up or a knight can steal them, but the ladies can't do anything for themselves. A Queen in chess has WAY more power. Booooo!
