1st Dewalt product I have ever purchased that I rate 1 star. Why? Would you believe you have to remove the battery from the adapter when not in use. Why? It will drain the battery! I contacted Dewalt and they know about the problem and that is the way it was designed. That tells me that they don't care. So, while you can leave your battery in the Dewalt tools that don't require the adapter - you must remove the battery in tools that use the adapter. That should be "proudly" noted on all packages for this adapter. You shouldn't have to learn that AFTER you buy it, place the tool on the shelf with a fully charged battery and pull it off the shelf a few days later to find a dead battery. SHAME ON YOU DEWALT!
