Far less effective than NeilMed squeeze bottle. Extremely inconvenient to clean.
I have the unfortunate experience of dealing with many, many repeat sinus infections that began about 4 years ago. I have tried every sinus system under the sun to try to resolve my sinus issues - SinuPulse (which I like, but not as effective as NeilMed), Netipot (which I find totally ineffective), NeilMed (which is my favorite), and now Navage. I have been very happy with the NeilMed squeeze bottle now (which I need to do some tricks and turns with, literally, to make work for me - but it does work, and it's very inexpensive). But a recent new holistic health practicioner recommended this to me, so I tried it.
Please only read on if you aren't grossed out by graphic sinus rinsing details!!
I am currently getting over a sinus infection. For the last 7+ days my sinuses have been "blocked", meaning nothing - NOTHING - is coming out when I do nasal rinses. My sinuses are just "stuck". I had a sinus treatment by my new doctor, and my sinuses finally unblocked and they cleared and cleared and cleared out the super thick, yellow, sticky gunk day by day (using my Neilmed bottle). He recommended I try the Navage, so I did. I tried this over and over, but it won't remove any gunk at all. All that's left in the bottom of the tank is the clear salt water. It just doesn't pull the mucus out of my nose at all. I cannot get this to really work for me.
When I used the Neilmed bottle AFTER the Navage, plenty of yellow goup comes out again!
I personally find the Navage to be very weak at cleaning/clearing my nose. It has very little force, compared to the force I can generate w/ a Neilmed bottle. It also only cleans for a few seconds and it's over. It's very inconvenient to drain the bottom of the tank, refill, turn the nostrils, and clear out the 2nd side. It's really a pain.
I find using a Neilmed bottle so much easier. I can rinse 3-4 times (sometimes I need to as an infection is breaking up). I wouldn't want to go through the hassle of trying that w/ this machine.
Last - and this is really important to me - I really find cleaning this to be way to difficult. There are many parts to detach and rinse. And they take a really long time to dry - even w/ the drying rack. The bottom and top tanks do NOT disassemble, so they stay wet inside for a long time. Plus, it takes up a bit of counter space.
I just don't find this effective - at all - for any nose cleaning. Plus, it's very expensive. And it is really difficult to clean.
I really am surprised so many people find this effective, and I'm glad they do.....I just didn't find this effective at all. But I've got a very stubborn set of sinuses that didn't respond at all to sinus surgery either. I hope others find relief w/ this machine, but I didn't.
