"Swiss Quality"... made in the PRC...
We were using a resurrected 25 year old West Bend bread machine here recently that made all kinds of noise but produced good loaves of bread. We though well, maybe we better get a new one, seeing as the old beast was so noisy. And so, we settled on this so-called "quality" Swiss thing. Unboxing, it looked great, but seemed "light". I checked the paperwork with it to see if it were made in Switzerland, but couldn't find anything. Be that as it may, we gave it a whirl. Now, my wife is certified in certain sourdough baking and has many years baking experience in general, plus plenty of experience using a bread machine. And so, with that in mind, attempt #1 with a tried and true bread machine recipe resulted in a collapsed loaf. Attempt #2, she adjusted the water content per this "Swiss" thing's instructions... and, boom, another collapsed loaf. Attempt #3, she tried one of their (probably not Swiss) recipes, this time resulting in a hollow loaf! Well, 3 strikes and yer out. As I was repackaging it for this "Swiss" bread machine's trip back to wherever it came from, I thought surely the bottom of the machine would reveal where it was manufactured. And what do you know... it says "made in PRC", with PRC meaning "People's Republic of China". Now granted, it's my bad for not looking more closely to be sure this thing was "Swiss" beyond their claims that it was. But, more so it's their bad for not revealing this in the description here in it's Amazon listing, much less that they claim it to have "Swiss Quality"!!! Is this not misleading or even false advertising? Oh well, it's going back to it's "Swiss" origins... in the "PRC" and we'll go back to our clunky old 25 year old West Bend for a REAL loaf of bread.
