This vacuum sucks
I purchased this vacuum due to the high number of positive reviews. The vacuum I received was packaged well and was simple to put together. However, actually using the vacuum was the challenging part. Dyson claims on the box that this vacuum self adjusts over carpets to hardwood floors. I used the vacuum on my wood floors and it worked well, however, when i tried to push it onto the carpet, it immediately adhered to the carpet and would not budge. The suction was so powerful, that it started pulling up the carpet. Our carpet is new, and somewhat thick, but it is no different than standard carpet you would buy at any home improvement store. I contacted Dyson regarding this issue, and the only solution they gave me was to start removing seals that were glued to the vacuum. Instead of trying to jiggy-rig this machine, I am returning it. To engineer and produce a vacuum that does not actually vacuum on different types of carpet is a mystery to me. To sell it for $300 and market it as "the latest technology" is bull. This problem could have been avoided by simply adding a couple of buttons to either reduce the suction, or manually adjust to different carpet heights like my 10 year old vacuum does. Maybe the Dyson engineers should spend less time researching new "technology," and more time paying attention to what actually works.
