Should call this a “RustPit”
I was sooooo excited to purchase my BioLite FirePit. The ability to have a portable campfire that can burn both wood or charcoal AND you can cook on was a perfect solution for our camping needs. In theory, this Firepit is amazing. It does lite easily, looks pretty, burns both wood or charcoal, and has an easily adjustable rack for cooking. We have made S’Mores, Hotdogs, Foil packs and even steaks on this. Unfortunately, it rusts. Badly. We’ve used ours on three camping trips in 3 months. I’m so disappointed in how quickly it rusted. Instructions say to wipe it down if it gets wet. Which we do. But let’s be honest. When camping, things get wet. A lot. I really wanted to love this Firepit as it checked all the boxes for me, but it looks like it’s going to be a $200 rusty piece of trash instead. If BioLite could make this out of a more durable material (perhaps stainless steel) it would be a win. For now... it’s two thumbs down.
