More trouble than it's worth. It was a great idea in theory, but the reality is this scoop makes the job more cumbersome. My experience was that it takes in a considerable amount of clean litter as well as dirty before sifting is even possible. This is because as the scoop dips into the litter to retrieve the clumps, the shovel-full pushes the trap door open, thereby allowing anything & everything to travel inside. Sometimes clumps are buried deep in the litter box, so shallow scooping is not always possible. No matter how careful I was to minimize taking in clean liter, I was still capturing a wasteful amount in the compartment. Sorry Tower Star Pets, but thanks for trying. And now I get to decide whether it's worth paying for the shipping to return it, or just eat the whole $17.99.
