VERY Misleading Warranty Information w/TWO UPDATES
TWO (2) UPDATES APPEAR AT THE END OF THE INITIAL REVIEW THAT FOLLOWS: One of the major reasons I purchased this was for the 2 year warranty stated in the Amazon listing as follows : "NO-WORRIES: When choosing our jump starter kit, you will have our 2 years after-sale warranty with friendly and professional technical support." However, when I received the jump starter, the enclosed warranty card states the warranty is for six months which can be extended to nine months if you register the product with Tacklife. So I sent them an email and asked about the difference in the warranty periods. This was their reply: "Thanks for choosing us. That card says, you can get a replacement within 6 months due to manufacture fault. And that could be 9 months if you register our website. Within 24 months, we're always there to provide you technical and friendly services." So it seems the actual replacement warranty is for a maximum of nine months with technical support for two years. Regardless of how good this product is, I consider the very misleading information regarding the warranty to be a deal killer, especially when other highly rated jump starters provide an actual 2 and sometimes 3 year replacement warranty. I will be returning it. FIRST UPDATE 3-28-28 The day after posting the above review, I received this email from the seller, Tacklife: "We are very sorry about the misleading warranty infomation (sic), and we attanch (sic) great imprtance (sic) to to this issue. Thanks for pointing it out. We are working on it and will release accurate infomation (sic) soon. Hope you have a good using expierence (sic) with it." Aside from needing a good Chinese-->English spell checker, Tacklife has shown enough interest to at least contact me following my review. I'm not sure what their definition of "soon" is and if "release[ing] accurate information" means rewriting their listing to properly show the warranty is for nine months maximum and not two years, or clearly state the warranty is really for two years and the buyer can disregard the printed warranty card that comes with the unit which says nine months. Since the Tacklife jump starter is very similar, if not identical, to other units sold by Amazon all of which--or at least the ones I looked at-- carry a two or three year warranty, I see no reason why Tacklife should not offer the same. I was going to start my return process today, but in light of Tacklife's timely response, I'll hold off a while to see what, if any, changes they make and will update my review accordingly. SECOND UPDATE 3-30-18 I received another email from Tacklife: "We understand what you care about. But to be honest, there should be no product or company provides 2 or 3 years replacement guaranty. You can see many other brands claim 2 or 3 years warranty rather than replacement too. And as we mentioned in our ad, 24 months is a friendly and professional technical support warranty, more after-sale information is in warranty card. What you saw is an old version, but you have the same guaranty as in the new card. And the newest details are follow: 30 Days Money Back Within the first 30 days of your purchase, you have the permission to ask for a full refund. 3-6 Months Replacement Within the first 3 months of your purchase, you have the permission to get a replacement with your defective unit due to manufacture fault. You can get another 3 months warranty if you register our official website. (6 months in total) 24 Months Technical Support Within 24 months of your purchase, we'll always be there to provide you friendly and professional technical support. You can trust that we have excellent product quality, and we will resolutely perform all the guarantees we promised." While Tacklife might consider 24 months of technical support as a warranty, most of us here in the USA would consider a 24 month warranty as providing some sort of product replacement. Regarding their statement that "there should be no product or company [that} provides 2 or 3 years replaement (sic) warranty," that simply is not true. I contacted BEATIT TECH regarding their claim of a 2 year replacement warranty and they clearly responded by stating it is a replacement warranty and that they provide LIFETIME technical support. I also contacted NOVATECH USA who markets a DB Power charger/jumper. They confirmed both a 3 year replacement warranty as well as LIFETIME technical support. To be honest, much of the confusion is a result of Tacklife's difficulties in translating Chinese to English. The so-called Chinglish effect. In any case, I am returning the product.
