This harness has been highly recommended to me by many users, some of them dog trainers. I can see how well this properly fitted harness works, as we have on we use on our Chihuahua. But this does not work for our German Shepherd. I will explain my pros and cons on the Petsafe Deluxe Easy Walk harness. My pros: this is a very well made harness. It’s lightweight yet well constructed. I especially like the neoprene lining on this deluxe version. A very pretty color too 😊 My cons: while the website suggests that you measure in order to ensure a proper fit, what is not taken into consideration is the ability to let out and take in the various straps. While it “technically” fits my German Shepherd according to the website and my dog’s measurements, he is a deep-chested dog. The belly strap does not let out enough to allow the front chest strap to sit properly. It’s too low. WAY too low. So in order to get the front strap to sit right, the chest strap has to be adjusted tightly-this makes the back and belly strap dig in behind his shoulder blade-something the website states is not a proper fit. Customer Service was contacted. They were very receptive to my issues, and over the phone were very kind, understanding, and helpful. I explained several times what the belly strap issue was (as it was obvious they were asking questions from a script, and the belly strap issue didn’t quite fit the dialogue) and the CSR assured me that they would send a replacement out. It would not be the deluxe nor the Ocean color...but I was very happy as proper fit is the most important issue. She asked that I send photos, and that she would send the replacement harness out RIGHT AFTER WE HUNG UP, that VERY day. Needless to say i was very impressed with the company!! OVER 1 month later and I’ve had no responses to my email with images, and no replacement harness. I’ve had to discontinue using the harness, as the improper fit causes sore spots behind and under my dog’s front legs. It’s thin shin there and it rubbed him RAW with just a short walk!! I’m really disappointed, as it worked so well for my chihuahua. I think the most important takeaway is to try the harness on before purchasing, especially with large and deep chested dogs. The harness made our Shepherd hate walks, as soon as it came out he ran and hid...NOT his usual behavior. I am giving 2 Star despite the quality and color, because of the poor fit despite following the websites measurments; because Petsafe customer service dropped the ball with replacement-despite repeated calls and emails from me; because they lied about a replacement harness; and because of the lack of adjustability. If the belly strap could be made longer and back strap taken in, there would not be an issue.
