Anaphylactic reaction due to cross-contamination
I have a long list of true allergies (gluten, grains, potato/nightshades, tree nuts, and many more) so I was thrilled when I discovered the existence of cassava and arrowroot flours to which I have no allergies. I started out using the best rated brands with hefty price tags, so I switched to Anthony's. The first two bags were great in terms of smell, texture, and taste. Then, I started having anaphylactic reactions as well as allergic dermatitis periodically. I'd do well with 1-3 bags, then react to everything made from the next bag. This experiment went on for 2 years during which time I only made tortillas (cassava flour, arrowroot flour, pink salt, teapot boiled hot water, & Napoleon organic extra virgin olive oil). I never had a reaction with the other brands I've used.
It's also kind of fishy that Anthony's will not/has not responded to other customer's emails regarding the accuracy of their gluten free testing as well as cross-contamination issues. Their labels also do not come with any disclaimer stating "made in facility/facilities that also...." giving the impression that there aren't any cross-contamination issues.
