The worst cookbook I have ever seen - clearly the high rating is falsified
If I could give this book zero stars, I would. It is truly the worst cookbook I have ever seen. It belongs on Jimmy Fallon’s “Do Not Read” segment. When I read the reviews before ordering I figured the one star reviews had to be outliers; I mean there are overwhelmingly 5 star reviews on this cookbook. But now I see, 900 of this author’s closest friends must have been paid to give 5 star reviews without ever laying eyes on this book. The typos are glaring and extensive. Words are spelled wrong (my personal favorite is the Lemon-Beery Chocolate Cups) and much worse quantities of ingredients are obviously wrong. Tablespoons obviously listed instead of teaspoons in several recipes. (Go ahead, make teriyaki chicken with an entire tablespoon of oregano and sage and TWO TABLESPOONS of ginger and garlic powder and serve that to your friends!!) In some cases ingredients are mentioned in the directions but not given in the ingredient lists. This cookbook is touted to be basic and for beginners and yet almost all the dessert recipes appear to be gluten free or healthy alternatives to normal desserts and so have odd ingredients required. If you end up making a good recipe with this book, it can only be because you alternated nearly everything about the recipe: cook time, ingredients and quantity of ingredients. For anybody wondering if there are Amazon products with fake reviews leading to higher star ratings than should be, I can assure you that, yes, that is happening. This book and its 5 star rating are proof.
