Lousy Video Quality At Night - SLOW Wifi - Avoid!!
We have a lot of issues at our High School bus stop where our neighbors will not stop for the buses in the morning. I bought this dash camera to capture these moments and to protect my wife in the event she got into any accidents. This Rove dash camera stood out in terms of reviews and features for the money so I purchased it. This past Friday morning a neighbor decided not to stop for the school bus when the kids were boarding. In the past I have pulled out my phone to capture these events but in this case I had high hopes the Rove dash camera would capture the license plate of the offending vehicle. When I got home I decided to take advantage of the camera's Wifi capabilities to transfer it to my phone. I went to transfer the video file to my phone using the Rove app and after waiting 15 minutes it had only transferred approximately 16% of the video! Instead of waiting I removed the memory card and placed it into my PC. To my surprise the video was only 1GB in size. That is extremely slow and makes the Wifi transfer function unusable. If that were the only problem with this camera I could maybe look past it but when I had my first look at the video I was disgusted. The video quality is absolutely horrible. I had WDR and the highest resolution enabled for the video but I could not make out the license plate of the offender in any single frame! The pictures in the item description state this has "Super Night Vision" yet the license plate is completely unreadable. I wish I had tested the night capabilities sooner because if I did this would be back on its way to Amazon today. This was a complete waste of my money and when I really needed it to perform as advertised it completely failed me and all of the kids getting on the bus, who in another scenario could have been hit and I wouldn't be able to identify their assailant.
