I have two other rain gauges. I have an older scientific one, that has rusted that I am replacing. I bought this and another from Amazon. This one is on level post within three feet of the older one also on a level post. The other newer one came with its own garden stake and is placed about three feet to the other side of this gauge. After four rain falls, multiple inches, this gauge each time read about one half what the other two read. I'm pretty content with the older gauge since I've had it for over 15 years and it has been consistent with NOAA. I would not recommend this gauge if you want an accurate reading.
