Made it worse, have tried it twice now, does not work. Proof in pictures
This will be a long review as I try to explain myself. I first tried this on a 2001 Mazda Tribute, throwing a catalytic code. I did it following the instructions to the T- it did not work. I simply thought it was a bad catalytic converter (beyond repair since the car is old), so I bought a new one. I then bought a 1998 Honda CRV, with a P0420 code. I bought a brand new catalytic converter and installed it. Fast forward a couple of months, and my check engine light is on. I knew I had a brand new catalytic converter that was only a few months old (they should last about 100k miles), so this made no sense. I then bought a OBDII scanner that does live data logging and can read O2 sensor outputs. First thing I found was my car was running way rich (meaning, the exhaust had a lot of unburned fuel in it, which is guaranteed to clog up catalytic converters). So I immediately fixed the rich problem, and I was left with a catalytic converter that was clogged. This is the perfect opportunity for Cataclean to work- the catalytic converter is good in the sense that it is new, not damaged, but simply clogged. Look at my two chart pictures I uploaded. One is before the CatAclean was added. Note that the blue line (O2SI, oxygen sensor, bank 1, which is before the catalytic converter) shows a normal oscillation like it should. The orange line is the O2S2 (the oxygen after the catalytic converter). In a normal working unit, the blue line should be straight, around .045v. It goes up and down, meaning the catalytic converter is not really cleaning any of the exhaust. I then added a bottle of cataclean at 4 gallons, drove it until empty, filled up with Shell gas until empty, and then took another reading. Notice the blue line oscillates (as it should), but the orange line almost mirrors the blue line. This is a key indicator that the catalytic converter is in fact not working as it should. Absolutely no change from before I added the bottle, maybe a little worse. These values were taken with an OBD2 monitor and then plotted in excel to make a chart. Look at the data and google it, don't take my word for it. It does NOT work as it claims. The catalytic converter is brand new, and simply clogged. I took it out and washed it with commercially available solvents and it cleaned it right up. Save your hard earned money instead.
