This was the second of this type I purchased. After six months of light usage I noticed the interior started to de-laminate. With the inside falling apart it made this mug unsafe to use. Too bad because it performed excellent keeping liquid hot for hours. I contacted customer support and they were very fast to respond. I explained the situation and sent them the attached photo. They quickly responded back and blamed what I was seeing as coffee stains. After a few emails back and forth it was clear that Zojirshi doesn't stand by their warrant. By the way, that five years they speak about is: "We will only replace if the vacuum bottle is no longer holding heat, the 5 year warranty is on the vacuum insulated heat retention of the body only. The warranty does not cover any cosmetic damage, such as peeling paint or peeling non-stick coating nor does this warranty cover the replacement of worn or damaged replaceable parts. " So, buyer beware
