Requires real cash, plus no one cares.
I'm so bummed out. I really liked this game. The graphics are adorable. The soundtrack is bland, but what they did put in is amusing. It boggles my mind how it could be so simple and take up so much of my time. I don't even have to spam my friends. But apparently, level 19 is all you can reach for free. Well, I guess 34 is really the limit if you're in the know, but there are supposedly 138 levels to unlock, and we ONLY get 34. Here's the deal. For a set amount of gold, you can unlock one level. That amount goes up for the second level...again for the third...so on and so forth. When you get to level 20, you have to spend 10 diamonds. Now, I get that the developers have to make money. I am not at all opposed to throwing some cash towards my favorite games. But diamonds are really difficult to get. You can get them for achievements, but they're quite stingy...you only get five diamonds if you complete EVERY. SINGLE. ACHIEVEMENT. For the most part, an achievement will get you gold or med kits...not diamonds. I don't know if the price goes up as you dig deeper...level 20 is 10 diamonds. In real money, that's $2. If you read this before you start, you can work it out so that you can get to level 34 by using special codes that were released during the Doomsday Prepper show, and those levels are free. But I have no idea how much level 35 costs. I only have 5 diamonds, I can't buy the next level. Even if it's only 10 diamonds per level after that, that means, to unlock every level in this game, you'd need to spend $208. Sure, you might get lucky getting a couple from some achievements. Or maybe a VIP will drop by with some for you (but I haven't had this happen). You'll get spammed for offers too...sometimes they'll cut the price of diamonds for you. But even if they cut it by 50%, you're still looking at $104 to complete a game on your phone or tablet. If you have that kind of money to spend, you can get multiple awesome, engaging, fully available games for your phone or tablet for that money instead of one that's essentially just a time sink. We all know that a lot of app games are just time sinks. They're cute. You do them on the bus, or waiting for some appointment, or under the table when you're having a boring dinner. To put the cherry on the cake for me, I don't believe the creators of this game even care. I don't think any new codes have been released for over a year. Their Facebook page has one post on it from two years ago. If they even TRIED with the people who are still playing this game, I'd give them another star. But they don't. They don't even care enough to tell people whether or not this is a dead game. Is it still updated? Supported? Being developed? Have they given up on it altogether? Who knows? Really disappointed. Edit: shortly after writing this review, I logged in to the game and my progress was gone. Before that happened, I DID learn that the premium floors do not continue...or perhaps there was an update that changed the prices. Either way, it seems that players aren't completely screwed after a set amount of floors...but I also just lost all my progress, so no more Doomsday Preppers for me.
