I’ve been buying the #6 brown filters (by the case) from Amazon for years. This last batch was crap and it took me about a week to figure out why every pot of coffee I made came out weak and flavorless compared to the standard jet fuel I brew daily. I took notice (after Day 5 of lousy coffee) that the boiling water was rushing thru the cone at a rate of about 50% faster than it used to, which was bizarre because I use the exact amount of coffee grinds for every pot. I’m fanatical about the strength of my coffee. So I took a closer look at filter and was shocked to see it was DIFFERENT from the filters I’ve been buying for 10 years. The filters now have tiny perforated holes punched over the entire surface area of the cone which was why the water was going through so rapidly. Then I looked at the box and saw the ever so slight difference from the old boxes which now reads “Flavor ENHANCING MICRO PERFORATIONS.” Nothing could be further from the truth. Because the water flows so rapidly through the “enhancing” perforations, it doesn’t have time to steep in the grounds which produces a richer cup of coffee. What you get is weak, doughnut store coffee devoid of depth or flavor. I doubled up the cones to try and avoid the rapid water flow but it didn’t make much of a difference, the coffee still tasted weak and thin. These new filters are trash. Amazon must change their ‘product picture’ because the one shown is the OLD box before the “enhancement.” I’m taking a picture of the new box so you can see the difference.
