Waste of Money & More Frustration Than Its Worth
I was really excited to get this mattress topper from Amazon, especially at the price. I have wanted and looked for one this thick for a long while prior to purchase. When it arrived, I followed the directions to the letter. I opened the package and carefully laid it out on a flat surface (my new mattress and box spring). I turned off the AC and fans in the room as the directions state that the topper will inflate fully much faster in hotter conditions. I waited the recommended 48 hours, then I turned the AC and fans on to help it cool down. The directions also state it is necessary to cool it down to room temperature or below before laying on it. I waited another 24 hours. At the end of this 72 hour period everything had risen to the 4" it should be except a large section in the middle to top horizontal section, as several other reviewers have written. I could lay or press on any other section of the topper and it would depress then rise to its 4". However, the middle-top section I described went depressed even further but did not rise again. I repeated the entire 72 hour waiting period of hot and cool again. The end result was no different, the middle-top section did not improve. I can't use it as is. I have severe back problems which is why I bought it in the first place, and with this defect it would only serve to exacerbate my back problems. So I contacted Amazon to return it. I just wanted to try a new one or possibly get my money back to see if I could find a different one. The issue then becomes trying to get this HUGE, nearly 100 pound monstrosity to fit inside a shipping box. I kept my original box and it ended up busting in the process of many failed attempts to get it to fit. I then went to UPS store and bought an even bigger box, almost double the size. Still didn't fit. I tried everything I could think of, so did my brother (who is a physicist) and my neighbor. We could not get it to shrink down enough to ship it. So now I can't sleep on it and I can't get a refund. When I told Amazon my trouble trying to get it into a box I was sent a message that said, thanks for letting us know you won't be returning it. Please don't waste your money on this. IN fact, I suggest only buying from a physical store near you that will be more helpful in the case it is defective. I'm out $150 and have nothing to show for it. I am beyond upset and beyond disappointed with both Amazon and the product.
