Big Brother is watching you
The device works, it tells the temp and the humidity. It also will connect to your Bluetooth device to send data to it, but only if you let Govee identify you and track your every movement. The app has an option to connect to the thermometer/hygrometer without creating an account, but it doesn't work. If you choose this option it shows you the device and let's you think you are connecting but then endlessly "cycles" while supposedly trying to connect. If you log-out of the account the app disconnects from the devices and does not reconnect to them until you log-in again. Why is that? I am not using the cloud storage, I don't want to be logged in to their servers in order to tell the temperature and humidity in my home while I am in my home. There is no function that I want to use on these devices that requires Govee to know my location, why do they require it, and why don't they inform you that it is required for their devices to function prior to purchase? What information is Govee collecting about the users and for what purpose? It certainly isn't to make sure the device is functioning properly. Why doesn't Govee offer an option to opt-out of this data mining operation? Why would information related to the constant location of my mobile device have anything at all to do with the function of a Bluetooth device that stays in one place?
Yeah, it does what it says it can do, but only if you allow it to do so much that they are not telling you it does.
