AKA PVC #3, Phthalate-free Vinyl is PLASTIC
Be a well informed consumer when making your move to a dog “toy” that uses the term “Phthalate-free Vinyl” very loosely. It’s real name is PVC #3, and can release harmful chemicals. Aside from that, with a bit of research, a news station in Indianapolis, IN wrote a story in 2016 about a woman and her lab. She left her lab at home one morning, briefly, under the auspices her dog would have fun with the toy while she was away. When she returned, she found the ball was torn to pieces. When she went to the vet, her dog needed emergency surgery to remove the plastic pieces and almost died.
The consumer video still shows and markets the ball for fitness and fun while you are away. My dog destroyed this within minutes. I see so many of the word “clutches”, and “pick up”. But we all know how a dog picks things up—-with sharp teeth. That plunge right into the toy immediately. When I saw the teeth marks, I didn’t hesitate to take it from him and returned it immediately. It lasted all but good 5 minutes. Chew-proof, not at all. Durable, not at all. Longevity, <= 5. Hard to take that consumers are still being led in the false direction this is a safe toy to leave with your dog alone. IT IS NOT. And there is no disclaimer here I can see. The company is AllStar Marketing in NY. I’m sure they can put more of a disclaimer to WARN us of the pitfalls when using this dog toy and update their video. I was directed to this toy from a car company supporting Dog Day and to buy a toy for your dog. PLEASE, PLEASE, as an animal lover, make sure you do not leave your best pal alone with this toy. Maybe a bit funny, but not funny when you’re at the vet with half the ball unaccounted for. It’s good to be Phthalate-free, but many questions left unanswered still. This toy is not worth thousands of dollars of vet bills and the health of your pet. Just be mindful and monitor use of this toy—-from my personal experience and having owned the toy. I did receive a full refund, no questions asked. I wanted to likeit, but I didn’t likeit or loveit. So back it went.
