I've purchased many DeWalt products in the past, and am generally very happy with their tools, but this saw has been a huge pain for me. But, I think most problems stem from the packaging on this, so I would just say that if you do buy the saw, don't purchase it on Amazon. Go right to a shop that sells it and buy it there. It looks like it was shipped in the box that you would normally buy it in a store, so there was no rigid packaging for shipping. On top of that, the sliding arm wasn't locked down, and the bevel wasn't locked down. So, the saw banged side to side and slid forward and back for the entire duration of it's trip, resulting in a scratched fence and blade and destroyed box. I thought that was the extent of it, so I just chalked it up to poor packaging. But, after using the saw, I found out that it is not square, and I cannot make it square. It works fine if you don't do a sliding cut, but as soon as you go past 6 inches, it is off about 1/16 to 1/8. You can adjust it by hand to square it, and then move the pre-set notches to square it yourself, but I cannot get it square at both the 0 inch cut and the 12 inch cut. There must be something off on either the fence of the sliding arm. Also, it doesn't cut at a level depth-stop. When make a sliding cut using the depth-stop, it cuts about 1/16 of an inch too deep for the last inch of the cut. As far as I know, there is no way to adjust this, so there is something seriously wrong with my saw. Again, I think it was all in the shipping and I don't want to dissuade anyone from buying this saw. I called up DeWalt, and they said that I can bring it into their shop about 30 minutes away from me, and they will fix it, but that is the last thing you want to do when you spend $600 on a new saw and it doesn't work out of the box. It's a lot of hassle for something that should have been hassle-free.
