I have used these on a couple of trips...and I have wasted a lot of time on trying to adjust the settings to fix a problem with volume that is so low that you literally cannot hear anything through these units. I am very disappointed. Like other reviewers, I had a previous pair of Talkabouts for over 10 years and they worked and sounded great. The build quality on these seemed good...but that is misleading because they just don't work. I called Motorola customer service and they would not do anything for me because they are just a bit out of warranty. They forwarded me to technical support where they acknowledged that there are know issues with the radios. They had the nerve to suggest that I use a headset with these radios to address the known manufacturing issue with the volume on these units. Shame on me for not calling sooner, but shame on Motorola for not issuing a recall on these defective units. These are going in the trash and I WILL NEVER BUY A MOTOROLA PRODUCT AGAIN IN MY LIFE.
