Hasboro Should Be Embarrassed To Call This Thing 'Brite'
This is nothing like the original Lite Brite. The screen is small, just 5.5 x 7.5 inches... which is less than half of the original Lite Brite. I could have accepted that, taking this as a travel version or whatever except that it is dim, and I do mean *dim*. I had to turn off lights in the room just to see the pegs glow, and find a shadow in the corner to make it seem 'brite'. I took it apart (mind the screw behind the batteries) to see exactly what was wrong with it. It has four (yes, count them 4) LED lights that illuminate a bit of white poster board tacked to the back of the device. Considering you can get an 9-LED flashlight at Wall-mart for a dollar, maybe they should have considered putting a few more LED's in this product. Or at least orienting them so that the center pegs would be illuminated. I considered re-engineering this product to be a bit more like the original. It actually reminds me of the one I had when I was a kid, when I hold the (disassembled) screen in front of a 100W lamp. But paying $20 to put that much work into what should have been a simple toy doesn't seem worth it.
