Sure wish I could return this...
I so badly wanted to love this pillow. I've already spent countless dollars on everything from contoured neck pillows, shredded memory foam, solid latex foam, feather, down, etc. and nothing helps my neck pain. I purchased a Dr. Riter's Real-Ease Neck Support a few years ago from another store that specializes in back support items, and I love that, but it isn't something you can sleep on. I've been wishing someone made a pillow that would support my neck like that does, but also lets me sleep on my side. I thought I had found my answer with this pillow, but after a week of trying to sleep on it, I'm going to have to give up. I toss and turn all night. When I lay on my back, the ridge that is supposed to support my neck at the base of your head, feels like it is digging into my head and occipital area causing me discomfort. If I try to lay on my side, the pillow is so hard that my ears either fall asleep or start to hurt so badly from the pressure I have to turn over yet again, and this goes on all night and I wake up with a horrible headache, worse than if I'd slept on my old, unsupportive down pillow. AND, I was very careful to print out their measuring diagram and had my husband hold it up and measure my size. According to the chart, I was in the middle of the "petite" size range, so that is what I bought. Now it looks like I am stuck with a $90 pillow I can't use and can't return. I give it 2 starts instead of 1, as I'm sure it will work for some people, but for me it did not. I have wondered if the company needs to test another variable besides using only a person's shoulder width when determining size needed. In my case, as I have laid awake in pain trying to figure out why I can't get comfortable on this pillow which is supposed to be the correct size for me--I have decided that the length of your neck should also be a factor in sizing. I've felt like it is possible that if my neck is shorter than average, (I'm 5'2" so I probably do have a short neck) that would cause my head to not reach up and rest in the center of the cradle that is carved out in the center of the pillow for your head when laying on your back. This would cause the feeling I am having of the pillow pressing up on my occipital region of my skull, like the pillow is riding too high on me. But, every time I try to scoot myself up to try to better center my head, my shoulders hit the bottom of the pillow's side wings and I can't scootch up any further. This makes me think the pillow is too "tall" for me and is for someone with the same shoulder width as me--but who has a longer neck than I do.
