The primary reason that I purchased this system was for the supposed "Color Night Vision". That statement is very missleading! The only time that Color Night Vision is possible is under very specific light conditions. If you are thinking like me that you will have Color Night Vision at all times you will be VERY, VERY disappointed. In the Lorex manual it does state to use Auto mode when setting up the cameras, as using Color mode may impact the camera's performance at night. Duh! Why use it then! Isn't the whole point that you are to have Color Night Vision! I watched the video on the Lorex website and saw how the Night Vision was demonstrated in a couple of scenes where the people, cars, and surroundings are shown in color. What I did not catch at the time was that the subjects appeared to be under street lights and that the houses across the street were also well lit up and so the scenes were in color. Unless you have a street light at every location that you will place a camera around your home or business you will not have Color Night Vision, it will be Black and White. Prior to making the mistake of purchasing this system I returned a wifi surveillance system because it could not consistantly connect with all eight cameras and the video quality was not very good. The cameras would constantly connect and disconnect from the system. However, the one camera that was facing a street light across the street from my home did display in color at night, when it was working. Heck! The Lorex camera in that same location will only show a portion of that same house located across the street in color and the remainder in a grainy Black and White. The crappy system which is not supposed Color Night Vision at least had one camera in color. Now, Lorex does mention in their online video that Color Night Vision requirers a certain number I am assuming in the light spectrum for the Color Night vision to work. Well, to the average Joe who is not a lighting engineer that number means very little. It is very deceiving! Is this a total Rip Off? No, the 4K video quality is excellent. But you can spend a lot less for a comparable 8 camera system with 4K than you will for this 6 camera system and have the same quality video. Had there been "TRUE COLOR NIGHT VISION" this system would have been worth the money. But, for a basically Black and White Night Vision 6 camera system' THIS SYSTEM IS NOT WORTH THE MONEY! Find a cheaper alternative. I only wish that someone had taken the time to explain this in a review prior to me making this mistake. LOOK ELSEWHERE FOR YOUR SURVEILLANCE SYSTEM!!! THIS SYSTEM IS NOT WORTH THE MONEY!!!
