With the release of the different WB/DC animated videos, I've come to expect that they will deviate from the original comic lines. This "fresh take" however doesn't come close to the story that it's famous for. If you are a fan of the comic it's based off of; rent it, at most. You'll like seeing some (and the emphasis is on some (80% of this is changed)) of a great comic being adapted to the screen. If you've never read the comic and are watching this for the first time, please, I urge you to buy the comic. It is amazing, this movie will not spoil anything for you and it'll be like reading an entire new and better version of RED SON. If you are like me, who consider this comic to be a great story and alternate "what if" to the Superman timeline, then wait for this to come to a streaming service so you don't have to pay extra for it. Am I disappointed? Immensely. Will I want to see the actual Red Son adapted properly? Yes, I would love that. But until that day comes, I will still settle for the comic.
