Almost perfect - but not quite
This is my original review...see below for update:
This pole is great for two reasons:
1. Made in USA
2. Keeps my flag from wrapping up - the "Tangle Free" feature works.
At first, I had a cheap, light flag that would "tangle up" if it was wet and windy, then it would un-tangle as it dried out. I then bought a quality flag and it is heavy enough to stay un-tangled all of the time.
The reason for the three stars is because of the metal clips that hold the flag's grommets. They rust. I have only had this pole for a few months and the clips have rusted and stained my flag. The item's description says "rust free"....wrong.
Come on Grace Alley, how much could stainless clips add to the cost? I'd be willing to pay a couple of dollars more for a true rust free item.
Now I have to hunt down some stainless clips to fit the pole, when it should have been stainless from the beginning. After all, this pole will spend its life outdoors, and the outdoors can be wet.
Update 7-3-17
I'm dropping this review from 3 stars to 2....here's why:
I've had this pole for 1yr, 9 months, and it broke in half last month. Also, the "chrome" ball on top has all of the plastic "chrome" peeling off. (see photos). Now that this pole is in half, I can see that it's made of very thin material. I do not live in a windy area. I have plenty of sun, but after less than two years, this pole is garbage. When it worked, it kept the flag looking good most of the time.
Now for another issue: I have read a few comments on this product where people say it's made in China. While, I did not see a "Made in China" mark on mine, I also didn't see a "Made in USA" mark either. I dare anyone reading this to find where Grace Alley makes this pole.....what city and state? Every manufacturer that I know of that makes products in the USA will gladly display their factory location....not Grace Alley.....go ahead and try to find it.
When I complained to the manufacturer earlier about the clips rusting within 90 days, I did ask where their factory was that made these poles, and a woman named Jacklyn emailed back with "We manufacture all of our own flags in Pennsylvania". I then replied asking where the POLES were made, and a lady named Debi replied saying they could send me new clips. She totally avoided the "where are the poles made" question. You can draw your own conclusions.
I don't think Grace Alley actually advertises that these poles are "Made in USA", so just be aware that their poles are made in ????????
I feel silly that I fell for it.
I'd be willing to pay more money for a US-made, tangle-free pole that holds up.......if you know of one, please reply.
