Blows strongly, but has a dangerous defect: Update Jan 2020 - Fan is dangerous, plz read
Update: Do NOT buy this fan, it is dangerous as well as cheap. The fan literally came apart while running tonight. The fragile plastic guard (meant to protect you from the fan blade) will come apart at the slightest touch, and tonight the fan blade came off knocking the front guard loose and scattering parts - someone could have been hurt. Thank goodness I had used plastic wires ties to keep the guard on front of the unit or someone WOULD likely have been hurt. I couldn't imagine how the fan blade nut became loose, they are designed to stay on tight, but discovered the cheap plastic nut had stripped allowing the blade to come off while running. I will be filing a consumer safety complaint on this item. --- I bought this fan as it seems reasonably priced and I have an older Lasko (metal) that I think could survive the apocalypse. The fan is moderately loud, but not terribly so. The old Lasko I own is like owning your own personal hurricane - complete with noise. This new fan is not quiet, but not terribly loud either - so I can have it on and watch TV if I turn the volume up a bit. I actually enjoy the white noise when sleeping. The air output is great, far more than the old Galaxy it replaced. No complaints at all on its ability to move air about. I don't have a lot of experience with this fan so I marked durability as average. I will update when I have the fan longer. I have run into one very dangerous defect...when passing too closely to the fan my t-shirt blew against the fan guard and unsnapped the front right off, leaving my hand inches from the exposed blades. I turned the fan off and thinking I must not have put it together correctly, put the front back into place. I carefully checked to make sure it was on correctly, and then I used my t-shirt to pull across the guard again and off popped the front. The guard is made of very pliable and thin plastic and can easy just bend its way free of the snaps that are supposed to hold it. I have since added wire tires to the guard so that the thing won't come apart and hurt someone. In the past all large fans I have used either had metal guards or much firmer plastic ones. I have never seen a fan come apart like this.
