Is there a zero-star rating for this trash?
So to start off I would like to comment on how much I enjoy Sim City games. Secondly, I would like to comment on how much I believe EA is a money-grubbing greedy company that is too big for their own good. They are disconnected from their player base and push the boundaries on what they can exploit along the way of their career. Every time I hear of an outrage from a game being either unplayable, DRM infested, or a micro-transaction ridden entertainment piece (sometimes labeled as a game), it stems from EA. I am so disappointed as to how EA turned this could be excellent game into something that I wouldn't even pay $10 for. Understandably that the online portion could connect cities and I can see that as a side bonus, but at the same time you shouldn't punish all your players for what just a fraction (unsure of big or small) would want to participate in something such as this. There was a time when I just mostly played single games and that was it. Sure I still had fun with friends, but single-player games (and believe me, this is considered a single-player game) are intended no matter what they label it as is to explore and invest into something your own way. On multiple occasions, especially after some multiplayer deathmatch or the like I enjoy sitting back and soaking up a story in a single player or have fun with building up a city (such as Sim City, or at least Tropico). The elements that they talk about as "online-oriented", does not qualify to me as needing to constantly maintain an internet connection everytime I want to load up a game. If it makes you happy EA, why didn't you just create at LEAST a single-player experience (if your servers ever go down, that never happens right?), and a multiplayer environment in which your friends will be able to join up and make a city partnership. I fail to understand their point of view, yes I've read it, but it will never be understandable to me. The ONLY reasoning that comes to light for me is that they are worried about "piracy", or they are riding the "social media" wave (both of which I am annoyed by). If it is due to "pirates" I would like to say that the whole piracy thing is blown well out of proportion, I have never read such false statistics in my life. In fact, newer studies have shown that indeed when "pirates" have the money available to them then they spend the money and actually outspend in certain studies more-so than people who do not pirate. Sorry EA that you will not get my money for this game, I vote with my wallet and in fact I am also sorry to announce that I will refrain from ever purchasing another game from you. Sure, they might have good hits here and there, but the principle is always the part that matters to me.
