Try it out before you buy!
I bought this vacuum as a gift for my husband since our old dyson was old and we were ready for a new one. I bought it at Target for almost $600 and when I got it home I noticed the filter just falls out. There is nothing holding the filter in at all. We contacted Dyson because we thought something was wrong with it. We were told something along the lines of "well don't let it turn upside down" that was a very disappointing response for such an expensive purchase. The battery times are not exaggerated, you literally get about 6 minutes of battery when it's on the "max" setting which isn't too bad if you're just doing a room or two. It picks up a lot of dirt and pet hair, I really enjoy seeing how much it picks up, but the trigger hurts my finger after a while. It would be nice if there was a switch that kept it on, maybe there is and I haven't found it yet.

UPDATE: This vacuum is awful. I hate it.
