Normally It's Impossible To Make A Comparison Between Two Supplements
In order to compare two different supplements head-to-head, the only thing that can change in your daily regimen is which of the two formulas of supplements you are taking. Everything else has to stay exactly the same, whether it's the food and beverages you consume, the other meds you might be taking, how much sleep you're getting--I'm sure that you get the gist of this. Previously I was taking Now Foods Saw Palmetto Extract which cost $14.98 for ninety 320 mg sofgels. In combination with Flomax and the avoidance of any dairy products, I was getting up only once a night to relieve myself. I switched over to these Swanson Premium Grade Whole Berry 540 mg supplements because I could buy 250 tablets for $11.80 and appeared to be getting a much higher dose of what I needed.
The combination of a higher dosage with more tablets for a much cheaper price (it would cost about $41.00 for 250 Now Foods Saw Palmetto Extract) on the surface appeared to be a great deal. However I neglected to compare the fact that Now Foods was 'saw palmetto extract' and Swanson was 'premium grade whole berry'. After taking the Swanson product for one week, I was getting up every two hours to relieve myself. That was disruptive and unacceptable so I started thinking about what I was doing differently. There was only one thing--I had switched my saw palmetto supplement.
So I agree with people that generally it is folly to try to compare two different supplements, but in this case all other conditions remained exactly the same. In fact I ordinarily wouldn't even write a review on supplements, but in this case I can very simply and truthfully tell anyone who is considering a saw palmetto supplement to spend the money and get the results you need.
