Greatly inferior to other brands...
I didn't want to review this product until I'd tried another brand to see if the problems were common to all of them or just this brand. Before I tried another folder, I would have given this 3 stars - "just okay." But now that I see how badly they got it wrong, I am giving it 2 stars.
What it does right:
The basic configuration and size is correct and folding your clothes in this way is better (neater, more space efficient) than wadding your clothes up and stuffing them in drawers. It's also better than the old military roll method.
What it does wrong:
The hinges: The hinge system, which is supposedly that way to allow for thicker items, is much too loose. It allows too much slide and variation in the folding so that your items aren't uniformly square. You get more of a crumpled trapezoid than a flat rectangle. Unless of course you want to take ages lining everything up, re-lining everything up, oh-so-slowly and carefully folding each flap, etc. No one is going to take that long to fold clothes with this thing; they will give up and go back to wadding and stuffing the dresser drawers.
The material: Even taking a very long time to fold each item won't help that much because the material is so thin and flimsy. It needs some stiffness to it to manipulate the clothing into neat, tight bundles and it just doesn't. It curls and buckles.
The design: There are too many holes. Why does the number of holes matter? Because while you need a few holes to allow air to escape to make quick, very compressed folds, too many holes means there's no grip to the sides, and your clothing slips and slides and falls wherever it wants. Pair that with the flimsiness and huge hinges and you've got a mess, not a tidy rectangle.
Conclusion:
I didn't want to pay more to get one of the other brands, but once I saw that in theory this could work, I decided to try another brand and I'm glad I did. That one is a keeper. This one is junk. I can't even give it away. No one wants it after they try it. They all want the other one I have. I'm baffled by all the positive reviews here. I think they accidentally put their review for a different folder under this brand.
On the upside, I like the little clothes pins and garment bag. The gold foil bag is hideous and tacky, but would be perfect if you thought this was something that would make a nice "gift."
I hope the plastic this thing is made of is recyclable because that's where it's going.
A good clothes folder should be easy, fast, and consistent. I got all that with this one, which I love: the Miracle Fold (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009V0YSJY/ref=wms_ohs_product?ie=UTF8&psc=1).
