I've used toaster ovens for years, and I'm used to the amount of heat they can generate, but with this model, we managed to fry two other appliances, when their electrical cords came in accidental contact with the back of this unit--and that's during a 3-4 minute toasting cycle, not even using the longer-timed oven features. And this is that fancy model I'd been eyeballing for awhile--worth the investment you think, right? Not! There is a metal shield on the back of the unit that still manages to get hot enough to melt heavy duty appliance cords really quickly. We are used to wrangling cords--and use wraps and such to control them, but it's not unusual, in a typical kitchen, on a typical counter to have a few cords, right? Beware--this unit may look lovely, but is not safe! I would absolutely return it now if I could. :-(
