A sad day in Wink history...
I got on board with Wink back in 2016 when it was still Gen 1. Loved this thing, gladly shelled out more $ to upgrade to the Gen 2. Over the years reliability plummeted, it was plagued with outages, and it still isn't capable of controlling scenes and other basic functions available on other hubs! Now, today, May 6, 2020 I get a notice they're moving to a $5/month subscription fee to keep the company going and giving users 7 days to buy in or have their entire smart home rendered useless with no service. Needless to say, I'm not feeling too optimistic about the future of Wink as a company. Purchased a Samsung SmartThings hub today as fast as I could, sorry to say. Wink, why you gotta do us like this? =( I hope you decide to go opensource down the road, something you could have done years ago while still making plenty of money off one of the most robust hubs available on the market today. It's a shame to see such a well-built piece of hardware turn into a brick almost overnight. I hope your employees are taken care of and that they find jobs at your competitors quickly -- your designers, engineers, software developers, and support staff are clearly talented and thank you for the 5 years of joy you brought me while automating my home. I'll still think of you with every kid (and kid at heart) that says, "Whoa, that's cool!" when they visit my home.
