The hard drive suddenly stopped working after 22 days out of the box, and only 4 uses of image file transfers. The drive makes about a dozen very faint beeps when connected, and that's about it. No computer will recognize it. This product was clearly made to look pretty. Functionality was placed on the back burner. The hard drive was not abused in any way. That being said, I bought two of these at the same time - one in silver also (if that makes any difference at all). That one is working fine under heavy daily use, but I do not feel confident about the important data stored on it after the gold one failing. Before the failure, these would have gotten 5-Stars, but after less than a month, and probably less than 10 minutes of use, if it fails to do it's only job it does not get any sort of recommendation from me. I would consider this a "buy at your own risk" product.
