There are several things I like about this small tea kettle. The size is perfect to make tea for one, I noticed no plastic odor or taste, and it brings the water to a boil very quickly. The one star review is because the switch is defective and the auto-shutoff feature does not work at all. It will happily boil away all the water you put in it and the element will stay hot indefinitely. This is a huge safety problem. Plus, the switch must be manually reset to the off position after you pour out the water before you replace the kettle on the base. It should automatically reset when the unit is removed from the base as is the case with every other electric tea kettle I've ever seen. So bottom line is that this product is defective.
