I have a few years ago top of the line pc. I no longer have my iphone 8 plus...Why am I telling you this you may wonder. I am telling you this because GoPro does not inform you how important having the latest and greatest is for video encoding. I bought this camera SPECIFICALLY to produce videos in 4k res. Well I shot the footage no doubt, but when I import it through Quik, which btw was a tedious few hours to discover I had to unistall Quik and reinstall Quik to get an actual functional application, I discovered my pc, top of the line 3 years ago, does not support HEVC. HEVC is apparently a method of capturing 4k 60fps at a rip off of 50fps and hiding it from the user and never letting you know under the guise of saving a few MB of data. If you have a recent iphone you will be ok, but sadly I no longer have mine. So now if I want to utilize this feature I'll have to either go buy another iphone or buy a latest and greatest intel chip based computer for some arbitrary software which isn't even as good as the advertised 4k @ 60fps which my computer is perfectly capable of encoding and viewing. Please upvote this HELPFUL information GoPro is hiding from you. Yes I am aware that once you have the camera and try to select the high resolutions they inform you that they are ripping you off 10 fps and that only very modern intel chips and modern cell phones are getting the deal to have compatible software which even a 10 year old computer could handle with the appropriate software.
